The Muddy Roses
The Muddy Roses
In their self-titled debut EP, produced by Dean Kattari (producer of 'Live From the Archive') The Muddy Roses hurts so good…like that old, inextinguishable flame or your first taste of rye. It's a tangible burn that settles into your gut and makes you feel warm all over. "We love our sad songs," says Liz Lewis, a self-proclaimed "West Vir-tuckian" and the vocal bombshell behind this heartbreak machine. She's right. The San Francisco-based band, which, at its core, consists of three primary collaborators - Lewis (vocals), John LoGiudici (guitar & vocals), and Diana Greenberg (fiddle), has a knack for churning out homemade, destined-to-be classics that would make George Jones weep.

The nostalgia-infused “Hurtin’ Side,” summons a genuine appreciation of the well-crafted, “simple doesn't come easy,” country break-up tune, while “Long Black River” carries us away on the beautifully imperfect journey of a wounded heart. It’s that “thick-like-molasses,” full-immersion approach that resonates with their loyal fan base and attracts crowds wherever they play.

This close-knit group certainly isn’t afraid to get rowdy, either. In their new single, "Good Love Gone Wrong," the band pokes fun of country song cliches with a stompy, front porch persuasion that practically puts a drink (or three) in your hand and leaves you with a hankering for a good-kinda-bad time.

In 2016, TMR released a raw take on The Grateful Dead’s “It Must Have Been the Roses", which earned them a coveted spot on KFOG’s Acoustic Sunrise weekly playlist.
