Kevin Russell and some friends
Kevin Russell and Some Friends is a collection of many of the bay area’s finest musician’s. Like Duke Ellington, they believe there’s only two kinds of music: good and bad. And they play the good kind(s). Specifically: western swing, classic country, honky-tonk and country jazz! In other words: Americana! Drawing from a wealth of American favorites like Bob Wills, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Hank Thompson and more, they always manage to make covers their own and create music that will have you dancing or listening with great enthusiasm! This is music that recalls the unique country music stylings that came out of Bakersfield, the rough and tumble side of Nashville’s glory years and the Texas honky-tonks that merged big band swing with fiddle tunes and cowboy swagger!

Their relaxed on-stage style will makes audiences feel right at home and as if the show is happening just for them.

Doug Adamz is a dazzling guitar player, a soulful singer, and an outrageous harmonica player. Add the insightful poetry of his lyrics and his terrific sense of humor, Doug puts on a show you’ll never forget. Some of his songs are engaging stories, some are reflective and philosophical, sometimes he just gets down with the blues.
Doug Adamz has recorded five albums of original, instrumental music and three albums of his songs. His compositions have been used by The Joffrey and other ballet companies, featured in a film by Robert Altman (The Company), heard in a PBS documentary soundtrack (Jim Thorpe, World's Greatest Athlete) and in two Spanish television series. The Kronos Quartet commissioned Doug to write several short pieces and Stevie Coyle and Dr. Elmo have recorded and released some of Doug’s songs on their albums. He’s performed with Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Joan Baez, and many finger-style illuminaries like Stevie Coyle and Doug Young and opened for many stars including Ricky Skaggs, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jesse Colin Young, Leo Kotke, David Lindley, Dottie West, The Chambers Brothers, Steppenwolf, Johnny Rivers and Johnny Lee.

Markie Sanders is a bay area resident with a long history of performance and recording with many of California’s most beloved performers. During her fourteen year tenure in Nashville she had numerous appearances on CMT television and the Grand Old Opry. Markie is a consumate musican, a sought after teacher and the musical heartbeat of the band.

Rick Cutler is the drummer’s drummer! In addition to playing with every important country, rock, & blues band in Sonoma County for the past three decades, his full time gig as a teacher means he has mentored literally hundreds of musician’s now playing in the county. His impeccable taste as a drummer, & exquisite timing, explain his moniker, “The Human Mentronome”!

Steve Della Maggiora (aka “The Maestro of Fun”) is a multi-instrumental, multi-talented musician. He plays guitar, bass guitar, piano, organ, and accordion. He sometimes plays solo. He sometimes accompanies singers, in a variety of styles, especially melodic tunes from before the 20s and 30s right up through the 60s and 70s. Steve plays with a variety of groups: bass in a pop-folk-novelty duo; guitar with a classical and jazz violinist; organ, bass or guitar with a fine rock band; organ with an electric blues band; accordion, keyboards, guitar and sings with an Americana-Rock-Folk ensemble; plays guitar and sings with a blues/bluegrass/Django-ish quartet; plays guitar or accordion with a Mexican-American dance group; and guitar with a highly skilled Cool Jazz Octet.

In addition, he is the driving force behind The Sebastopol Guitar Festival, held in early February and the Sebastopol Folk & Bluegrass Festival held in mid-March. He has appeared as a sideman on 21 local recordings by songwriters & groups, has recorded five CD's with his various bands and has five CD's out under his name. His newest project, an all swing music collection is called Country Swing and was released in January 2016. He is a former DJ and writes CD reviews for the online website Freight Train Boogie. com.
